why commit?

We want to encourage you with the benefits of committing to one ministry over these years of your life. The tendency for many is to hop from one ministry to another, but we want to expose you to the advantages of planting your feet in one church during this stage of your life and experiencing one comprehensive program. Here are some of the long-term benefits of committing yourself to this ministry during this time of life:

Community:
Friendships and committed relationships take time to develop. Committing to a group will help foster the kind of relationships that are necessary for Christian growth. You can develop relationships with people that can love you even in the worst of times and are committed to your best interest – God’s glory. Hopping from church to church will not cultivate the relationships we all need to persevere in the Christian life (Hebrews 3:12-14).

Pastoral Care:
A shepherd must know his sheep. It is hard for the pastoral staff at First Redeemer to know their sheep when the sheep come and go. The staff would like to encourage you and pray for you, and in order for that to happen, the pastors must know you. The advantage of committing long term is that they can better minister to your soul as they serve alongside you and their knowledge of you increases.
